History of a Prominent Ritchie County Wilson Family
The Ritchie County Historical Society announces the addition to its Old Stone House History and
Genealogy Library of a recent, donated history of the Joseph/Joseph Jr./Burlingham/Benjamin B. Wilson family (Our Wilson Family) authored by Society member Suzanne W. Hadley and her brother, J. Christopher Wilson. The 212-page history, which includes many photographs, is described by the authors as a “work in progress.” The authors acknowledge many contributions over the years, including contributions from such notable Ritchie Countians as Barr Wilson, Minnie Kendall Lowther, and David and Susan Scott. The history covers many West Virginia ancestral lines, including paternal lines of Wilson, Weaver, Collins, Gregg, Doak, Ireland, Burnside, and Lynch and maternal lines of Hufford, Ellifritt, Dotson, Franks, Flesher, and Marks. The history has been sent to libraries and historical societies throughout West Virginia wherever ancestors lived, including Taylor, Harrison, Doddridge, Tyler, Ritchie, Wood, and Jackson counties. It was also sent to the WVU West Virginia and Regional History Center in Morgantown and to the Latter-Day Saints (LDS) Family History Library in Salt Lake City. The history is available at the Old Stone House and at the Ritchie County Libraries as a resource for other family history researchers.
The Old Stone House and Pennsboro Depot are also open by appointment in addition to times listed on our Events page. Please email us at Info@RitchieHistoricalSociety.org to make arrangements.
